Automatic self-cleaning overband magnetic separators are essential tools in industrial settings, especially in processes where the removal of unwanted ferrous metals from conveyor belts is critical. These separators are typically positioned either perpendicular or parallel to the conveyor belt, aligned on the same plane in continuous production lines to ensure maximum efficiency in metal removal.

As the conveyor belt moves, the overband magnetic separator, equipped with its own self-cleaning belt, generates a powerful magnetic field just above the relevant section of the conveyor. This magnetic field effectively attracts ferrous metals from the materials passing underneath, ensuring that any metal contamination is quickly and efficiently captured.

Once the ferrous materials are pulled into the magnetic field, they are securely held by the separator's magnetic surface. At the end of the magnetic zone, the separator’s self-cleaning belt moves the collected ferrous metals to a designated collection area, where they are discharged. This automatic discharge ensures that only non-ferrous materials continue moving along the conveyor, maintaining the purity of the production line and preventing contamination of the final product.

Overband magnetic separators are constructed using high-strength neodymium and ferrite magnetic blocks, which are selected according to the specific needs of the application. Neodymium blocks are known for providing a much stronger magnetic pull, making them ideal for handling more challenging or smaller ferrous materials that may be difficult to remove with less powerful magnets. Ferrite blocks, on the other hand, offer a more cost-effective solution for standard applications where a moderate magnetic strength is sufficient.

Both types of magnetic blocks contribute to the overall efficiency of the separation process. By improving the separation capabilities, these separators help to minimize the need for manual maintenance and cleaning, ensuring smooth, uninterrupted production. Additionally, they reduce the risk of wear and tear on equipment caused by unwanted ferrous debris, ultimately lowering maintenance costs and enhancing the longevity of the production line.
